RESULTS: Day 1

Posted on 06/21/2008

Today started out a little sketchy waking up to pouring rain and a black sky. By 7am, starting time, the skies cleared. Sarah Green was the first girl into 38 off with 1.5. Whitney McClintock upped that to 4 and no one until the top 5 seeds broke into 39. Emma Sheers is leading at 3.5, Karina Nowlan close behind with 2.5 and Nicole Arthur and April Coble-Eller sharing 2. Looks like it's going to be an exciting day...

Round 1 of men's slalom got off to a slow start. Many of the best skiers from the first tour stop struggled at 39 with 6 guys piled up at 3. It wasn't until the Kiwi, Aaron Larkin, busted through 39 that the seal was broken. From there 4 more guys ran 39. Top score at 41 is shared JB and Willy with 3. Clouds are rollin in...could be high seas for round 2.

Women's second round started with overcast skies and colder air, but the girls pulled out another great round. The scores stayed about the same, with a few drops from the first round. Karina Nowlan was the only one reaching into 39 with 1.5. Most of the other girls were at 38. The head to head is going to tough!
