MasterCraft Pro Tour #6 Final

Posted on 08/31/2008

Phenomenal venue, great skiing and plenty of spectators made this years MC Pro stop in Charleston a success. After running an easy 5 @ 39 in an earlier round, Karina Nowlan went on to battle and beat Karen Truelove in the head to head night final. Both women ran solid 38's, but with Karina's choice to go first she was able to throw up a big score of 3 @ 10.75m in the dark. Karen had been there already in the weekend, but wasn't able to do it, coming up short with 1/2 a buoy.

The guys side saw a few upsets. Really this year has been a year of upsets, and surprises. Chris Parish and Willy are both looking arguably the best they've ever looked, but both were upset early this weekend.

With 8 guys left, we saw JT and T Gas battle.

JT fell in at 4 @ 39 after T Gas had run a full pass. T Bags advances.

Fred Halt, from Switzerland had been looking solid all weekend, running every 39 he tried....but this time, early at 5, the nerves got to him. Drewby was able to squeak out 5 to advance.

Jamie and Willy were matched up quite early, and put on potentially the most intense show of skiing all weekend. Jamie first, runs thru 39 and gets a solid 2.5 at 41....almost holding on for a full 3. Now Willy has to get a full 3 to advance...he does.

Nick and Parish. Parish first, runs 2 @ 41, tying his worst round of the weekend. Nick, gets an ok buoy 1, a phenomenal 2 and squeaks 3 to take out the tower.

The night Semi's saw Drew and Willy, Nick and T Gas.

Nick runs 38 and so does T Bags. But T Gas missed his gates, and scores 0. Nick advances.

Drew gets 3 @ 41, Willy unbelievable gets 5....but wait, he missed his entrance gates. Drew advances.

Now the final wasn't as exciting as we'd have liked, but thats head to head sometimes. Drew runs a solid 39 under the lights to make Nicky P chase. Nick, on a new ski mind you, falls in at 2 at 39, relinquishing his chance for his first US Title, and handed Drew Ross his first ever US Win!

Thank you to MasterCraft for putting on the event, Trophy Lakes, Dana Reed, Indmar, the drivers the judges the volunteers and everyone else for making this weekend such a great event. One more stop on the MC Tour, in 3 weekends out in Brentwood CA. See ya there!
