Pete's final trip and the end of the Face to Face Tour 2008:

Wednesday - 9/3/08
The day after Marcus returned home from Charleston, SC he jumped back into Pete with Terry and Kristin Winter to begin yet another long road trip. First stop was supposed to be Reno, NV to pick up Jenny from the airport but they were running late. It just so happened that Glen and Kimberly Plake were just a few minutes from the airport on their way to a speed skiing tournament. They picked Jenny up and met the Pete crew in Boomtown, NV. It was sweet to end the tour with an unexpected visit with the initiator of the idea of the Face to Face Tour - Glen Plake with his Down Home Tour. From there they went their separate ways...Glen and Kimberly to their competition (where they both took first!!!) and the Pete crew toward Phoenix.

Thursday - 9/4/08
The first day got them to Mammoth, CA. Terry and Marcus spent the morning tearin down Mammoth Mountain on their mountain bikes while Kristin and Jenny hiked around the webbing of trails in attempt to make it to the summit.
The crew left Mammoth, made it through Death Valley and parked for the night in Las Vegas. They got in late but hadn't showered from the activities at Mammoth. So, after an entire summer of avoiding truck stop showers, the day had come...it actually wasn't that bad! Clean and ready to eat, the 4 of them headed to The Strip for a bite to eat at New York New York and then called it a night.

Friday - 9/5/08
Drove from Vegas to Phoenix........pretty boring day on the road...with a few exceptions. Heading towards Hoover Dam, signs say "no trucks over dam". Well, DAMN good thing Pete is a motorhome and not a truck. The crew had to stop a sec and let the homeland security inspector snoop and sniff around, but they made it thru and over the dam....a dam with enough concrete to build a road from L.A. to New York. Once in Arizona, highway 93 was like one big video game. Every cyclist in the nation, except for Lance, was riding the paint line. No one died, but it was close. The crew made it to Crystal Point Estates in Gilbert AZ, and parked on the lawn of Richard and Mariana Abelson.

Saturday and Sunday - 9/5-9/6
The tournament went well. Another opportunity for a bunch of skiers to get together and hang out. 3 round record, Slalom, Trick and Jump...pick and choose. We need more events like this....and more solid people like Brad and Rita Stevenson, Ed Cleveland, Jack Wilson, the ASU ski team, and everyone else who made the tournament possible. Great effort. Oh, and thanks again to Richard and Mariana Abelson for the phenomenal hospitality....Look for more information in the coming months on Richard and Mariana's private ski oasis "Aqua Ski" down in Mexico. The Face To Face Tour will be offering continuing education at Aqua Ski.....an all inclusive vacation getaway for that exact moment when the long cold winter has sucked all the life out of you and its "ski or die" time. Stay tuned here for more info.

Monday - 9/7
Two less crew members (Terry and Kristin flew back to Cali) the last leg of the tour was carried out by Jenny and Marcus. They charged it all the way from Phoenix to San Antonio in 1 day....1000 miles! Arriving at Heath Voss' "Training COMPOUND" around 3 a.m. marked the last trip for Pete and the official last moments of the Face To Face Tour for 2008. What a sick summer!!......
